Artist Statement

Artist Statement

It was an absolute blessing that I grew up in Far-East Asia, immersed in a different culture I was allowed to try many different arts and crafts and was always encouraged by my teachers to continue with my studies. I was never treated like an outsider, which made me always excited to learn new techniques. That continues for me today, I enjoy working with texture, different mediums and techniques to capture a feeling, a visual language, in my art.

I love the freedom I am able to have with Monotypes, by nature I am a very structured and task oriented person, so when I am wrapped up in my printmaking process, its wonderful not knowing for sure how a piece will turn out. How fun!
It's exciting, the feeling I get when an art piece emerges from my soul to share with the world.

Art: a narrative of our world.

Artists are unfiltered, an unstopped presence in our history. They are the observers of our creations and our destructions.
Art is part of a larger dialogue. It exist in context. Art is the conversation the questions that get the dialogues started.

There are fans of art, there are history sticklers of art, and there are cartographers(they combine the history with the aesthetics and give the story of art).
Which is an excellent beginning dialogue of art and artists rewriting the contemporary of art. Remember Liberal Arts in schools, this was the intro to studying our civilization and understanding others.
